What is mould?
Moulds are for the most part, a type of fungi of which’s presence is commonly discovered when fruiting bodies appear on surfaces which release spores into the air. Mould spores are only able to grow when suitable conditions for mould growth are present. Mould fruiting bodies are often an indicator of high humidity conditions and excessive atmospheric moisture. However, mould can also be caused by damp conditions such as pipe leaks, penetrating damp. Moulds are often identified by the colour of their fruiting body e.g. black, white, green. Often, the treatment for mould is to treat the causes of the mould growth.

Consequences of mould growth.
Mould fruiting bodies can cause significant damage to surfaces, substrates and decoration within a property. The conditions which mould can grow in can also lead to health implications and problems. It is best to ventilate and heat a property sufficiently to prevent the conditions of mould growth.
